Alfred would be lying if he said he had never drunk alcohol before. Having been a football star back at home, going to wild parties and getting smashed was something of a requirement. He was rarely tempted to drink on his own without a good reason though.

So what was he doing in the pub near his apartment complex? Simple, one of his ex-teammates teased him of becoming a tea-drinking English sissy. That led to him proclaiming his hate of tea with furious caps lock abuse, only to get dared to drink something befitting of a real man. Which was, according to his admittedly retarded friends, booze. And Alfred F. Jones never refused a dare.

That's why instead of playing video games or doing something fun, the American walked into the smoky pub armed with his phone and his trusty little fake ID from back home. He was supposed to be barely 22, he could pull that off, right? He was taller than most guys his age. And if it was good enough in America, it had to be good enough here too.

Alfred sat down on a stool and pretended to be absorbed in the boring-ass soccer match going on in the background. He only had to order something strong, take a photo of him happily drinking it, and he could be out of here.

Arthur liked to drink occasionally. So what? He was 19, it was legal for him. Only just, admittedly, and he'd been doing it before it was illegal anyway, but now he could, with just a flash of his driver's liscence. It was the only think he really used it for now, other than messing about on that motorcycle his mother always told him would kill him one day.

That day had been very tiring, he'd had his big end of semester exam that day, and he'd been studying intensively the past week. It hadn't helped that his back had been aching because his wings had been very sore, not having had much exerscise. They were sore and when he took them out he could hardly move them. When he'd seen his back it had been red and inflamed. So he thought he deserved a couple of glasses of beer or something of the sort.

He ambled down to the King's Arms, and up to the bar, ordering a pint. He spied someone who recognised, that guy who he'd tricked in to thinking he was gay. Well that hadn't gone well. Still, he may as well annoy him more, he swore he wasn't old enough to drink. "Oi!" he yelled across the bar at him, "Who do you think you're fooling with that fake ID, hey?" He yelled, a bit of bluff.

Alfred stiffened at the shout. A fa-fake ID? Could they be talking to him...? But how would anyone know he was only 17? He didn't know anyone in this pub! No, no, they must have talked to someone else. The voice was kind of familiar though...

Unable to quell his curiosity, he turned around to look for the source of the voice, even though his 'new' brain had no trouble recalling the owner...

Goddammit, he would have given up a week's worth of McDonald's if his brain had been wrong. But it wasn't. There, sitting by the bar was an eerily familiar blond, whom he still didn't know the name of, but already disliked. Wait, didn't Floaty say his name was Kirkland...? Oh well, he would just stick with Shorty. Or FAG, short for freaky ass guy. Or for fag, simply.

Fortunately, the bartender didn't seem to be aware of who Shorty was yelling at. Not yet, anyway. And Alfred intended to keep it that way. So, resisting the natural urge to go over and start an argument with the FAG, the American simply turned his back to him and concentrated on not letting his ears go red from embarrassment and nervousness.

He saw the teen looking around and stared at him, with a mixture of annoyance, hate and worry. He grinned and said, “Yeah, you! Captain America!” He yelled. Everyone was looking around for who he was talking to. He really wanted to make him squirm, especially since he’d embarrassed him in front of his new neighbour. “You heard me, don’t look away.” He teased and snickered, watching him, staring at him very poignantly, pointing at him. “Isn’t it past your bedtime?”

Alfred sunk lower in his seat, staring at the table in front of him determinedly, trying, for once, to look as little like an American as he could. Damn it, why did he have to wear his 'Made in USA' T-shirt? It even had the flag printed on it beneath the letters if anyone was stupid enough not to realize what it meant. Not to mention his bomber jacket with a fifty on the back.

Suuuuure, he didn't look American at all. Why Shorty thought Captain America was an insult though, he would never know. It would have been a nice nickname if not for the clearly insulting tone of voice the guy used.

He twitched. He was not a fucking kid, damn it! He didn't have bedtime! He ground his teeth together, his embarrassment giving place to anger. And now almost everyone was looking in his direction. Fucking great. Fucking limeys, look somewhere else! Everyone already knew that Shorty was talking to him anyway, so Alfred whirled around and glared at the irritating blond. "Sorry, Sergeant Eyebrows, but I think you got lost! This isn't the embroidery club!" He yelled right back.

Okay, Captian America wasn't much of an insult, but it did get the point across, and drew attention to him. After all - the kid couldn't look any more American if he tried. Arthur recognised him and remembered he had a very strong American accent, but he had to wear a rather obnoxious shirt that said Made in the USA' as well, which just made him stand out like a sore thumb. He couldn't look more American unless he was wearing a Stetson and had the American flag emblazoned on his back. He was watching him closely, grining somewhat manically. He took a drink of his beer, trying not to laugh.

The other comment really seemed to get him going though. Arthur thought it might, he had a bit of a baby face so he probably got teased a lot. He finally got a real response out of him. Sargent Eyebrows. Good, even if a bit obvious. It was an easy mark, no points for originality. "Oh, my mistake." He sneered slightly, "It's next thursday, isn't it?" Embroidery club insult was a little better, but not very good. It didn't hurt him, he did embroider and he didn't care about that.

He stood, "Should you be spending your pocket money on booze, huh? I thought you wanted to get the new Superman Comic book." He made his way over lazily, "What would your mum say huh?"

'Ain't grinning now Eyebrows, huh? ' Alfred thought, smirking. Looks like Shorty was a bit sensitive when it came to those overgrown caterpillars over his eyes. Or did he use those things to keep his real eyebrows warm? Pfff, he could totally imagine Shorty knitting eyebrow warmers.

"I wouldn't know, I don't attend. But I heard it's right after the Fairy&Unicorn lovers' club. You must be a grounding member of that too." It did exist. Alfred saw it once on the internet. They even held meetings in London somewhere. Probably not here though, not that he checked the actual location. He hightailed out of that part of the internet a fast as he could.

He twitched when the Brit came closer, not wanting to be anywhere near someone who a: repeatedly got covered in spunk and b: he wanted to punch so bad.

...Correction, he wanted to punch that stupid little... even more now. Alfred could feel his face going red in anger and embarrassment. He gripped his chair tightly, mainly to not give the guy a broken nose. Or a broken face; he was in no mood to control his strength right now. "No, I already got it. But shouldn't you be a little more careful with your money? I ain't loaning you any when you want to buy your new dose of gay porn." And that slimy thingy gay guys used...what was it? Lube or something?

He snorted. "Fuck me if I know. Haven't seen her in two years. You would probably freak her out though. She can't stand less than handsome people." He gave the annoying Brit a beaming and very obviously fake smile.

So he liked reading, big deal. He knew he was a fantasist, and yeah, if fairies and unicorns were real, he would be very excited, but he wasn't quite as deluded to want them. It was a bit of an odd blow, though, as though he knew him more than he actually did. That made him more indignant than the comment himself. "Now what's wrong with Fairies and Unicorns, threaten your masculinity, do they?" He sneered. He was so feircly heterosexual, as he had shown in that damned stairwell. He wouldn't mention it, but he would exploit it for all he was worth.

He saw him twitch, the desire to jump up and to strike, he assumed. He could probably take him, he was a weedy thing, wasn't he. Then he spoke again and Alfred blanched a little. Did he have to keep yelling out about it, he was sick of trying to convince everyone that he wasn't gay. It was bang out of order as well, to 'out' someone whenever you want. This kid didn't know him, he didn't have the right to talk about that shit. "Shut the fuck up." He hissed angrily, and shoved him, straight off the barstool. "Since I'm not 12, I don't have to rely on pocket money."

He didn't care about not being handsome, really he didn't, "Well then, she sounds like a shallow bitch and I don't think I'd like her." He sneered, not caring if he was crossing the line or not. Yeah he was angry, there was just something about this kid that got his blood boiling. He was infuriating!

"Actually, they do. They're all girly and innocent and virginal and stuff." He could have made a quip about virginity and Eyebrows' trysts in the stairwell but he didn't want to be that much of a dick, no matter how annoying this guy was.

Alfred was caught by surprise. If he hadn't been, he would have held his place firmly on the bar stool, not even budging from the shove. As it was, however, he was caught by surprise, and he stumbled off the stool, catching himself in a push-up position in the last moment.

That was close. He thanked god for his baseball reflexes and the genetic mutation that granted him with this new ability to effectively calculate distances and anything really. These two things saved his face and pride both. Alfred jumped up and dusted down his hands, throwing an angry glare at the blond Brit. "I'm not 12 either! And out of the two of us, who's the one pushing people off their stool like a child having a temper tantrum, huh?" This had to be a first; Alfred was pretty sure he had never called anyone childish before.

He knew the comment about his mother should have made him angry, he really did, but... It was pretty much true as far as he was concerned. He muttered "Truer words..." lowly, the buzzing of the pub easily swallowing it. He raised his voice after that. "No one asked you to like her. I definitely wouldn't want you to be my new step daddy." He shuddered at that. Gross. Eyebrows couldn't have been more than five years older than him.

He really should protect his mother though, shouldn't he? "And don't talk shit about my mother." He didn't sound half as angry as he should have.

He just rolled his eyes, narrowed, "How gender binary of you." Now he was spouting that feminist stuff? Well, he supposed he was able to, he had done a lot on literature, and that included female representation. He was pretty good at it. "You must be pretty unstable in your masculinity to be threatened by a few unicorns. How childish." He sneered, really gearing up to fight. His back still ached, he was sore and in a bad mood, tired of him already. "There isn't anything viginial about fairies anyway, have you ever even seen a Midsummer's Night's Dream? Oh, sorry, you'd have to be cultured for that." And he was giving him a lesson on mythology too, how cute.

He was a rather gratified by the shove. Of course it didn't really stop him from being angry at being falsely outed in a bar full of men who might very well be more than a little homophobic. He wasn't going to do anything more though, not unless Captain America threw the next punch. "Well I'm not the one who just announced someone's sexuality to a whole place full of strangers, am I? Life lesson: If you think someone's gay, don't shout it out to anyone who can hear, okay, cunt?" he hissed, snarling. "That's far more childish than pushing you off your stool. I wonder how you'd like it?" In retaliation he got the idea that maybe he could pretend he was his boyfriend, and this was just a particularly nasty lover's tiff, but it would be unfair, and most of all hypocritical. If America dropped it, so would he.

He murmured to himself then, Arthur couldn't quite hear, but he got the sense that perhaps he didn't like his mother that much, which made it a bit of a wasted blow. "Please, just the thought of being related to you puts me right off the idea of her. She in to younger men, then?" He gave what could be almost described as a leer, "Funny you should say that, considering you were calling me gay not long ago. Now you think that I want to fuck your mother too?" They'd drawn quite a crowd, wondering if they would start a punch up or not.

A sharp laugh, "Yeah I shouldn't, since you've obviously thought all these things before me." He folded his arms. He knew he should just walk away, but he was enjoying himself, the tension leaving him. Nothing like a good emotionally damaging fight to relax. But he had to stop soon, before it got too physical. One touch of his back and he knew he would be on the floor... it would be so easy, the muscles throbbing and the wings aching, even hidden under the skin. Everything hurt and was red raw. But he couldn't show his weakness, and he most certainly couldn't give any hint of the wings. (Though... didn't America already know about them? He must have told him in the stairwell. He hoped he didn't realise it was a weak point.)

Alfred could have sworn his fists were practically itching to connect with the guy's jaw. How many times had he called Alfred childish in a span of five minutes? "FYI, my masculinity is perfectly stable. Not that you would know what that's like." He was the star quarterback back home. One didn't get more masculine than that, did they? "And I have better things to do with my time than watching renaissance plays about fairies." He knew what that play was about, thankyouverymuch. Err, somewhat. He wasn't prone to listening during Lit class.

The American sneered, an expression he usually reserved for his Dad. Eyebrows was doing wonders to his mood. "You didn't have a problem shouting it out to me when we met in the stairwell!" He scoffed. "You could have at least spared me the details. Trust me, I could have lived without knowing about your...ways." Were it anyone else, Alfred wouldn't have outed them. He was a Hero and Heroes didn't generally go around ruining other people's reputation. But Eyebrows was fucking asking for it. "And you couldn't out me because, newsflash, I'm not gay." People like him weren't gay. They just...weren't.

"Good. It should." He would have to disown himself if his mother actually got together with this guy. Wait, his mother didn't have custody of him, did that mean he wouldn't be related to Eyebrows anyway? He was momentarily distracted from their argument, wondering if he could even disown himself. He loosened his fists and stared right ahead, frowning slightly in thought. He had always had short attention span.

He was dragged back into reality when Eyebrows said something about fucking his mother. Alfred shuddered and went back to glaring. "That's a fucking sick thought and an even sicker mental image. Don't even think about it or I'll knock that thought right out of your caterpillar infected head." Besides, he was pretty sure his Mom wouldn't fuck a small, angry British guy. Not even if the little British guy had lots of money, which Alfred of course had no way of knowing.

Well, damn, Eyebrows was actually right. "Not with the same words, but yeah..." That was supposed to slip out. "But still, you have no right to talk about her like that!"

Finally, Alfred noticed the crowd gathered around them. They were probably watching the show, waiting for a fight to happen. He thought so, at least, since they had similar looks in their eyes as his teammates did back home just before a brawl broke out.

Well. If Eyebrows wanted a fight, he sure as hell wouldn't back down.
