~Halimeda Cosmatos~

Halimeda Cosmatos // Fem!Greece Application Halipicture

Name:
Halimeda Cosmatos
Age:
29
Birthday:
March 6 1982
Country of Origin:
Greece
Floor in the building:
Fourth from the lobby
How long they've lived in the building:
Three years
Job:
Waitress; also searching for a job where she would be able to use her degree (preferably as a teacher).
Powers:
Blood Healing and Levitation

Appearance:
She has dark brown hair that falls halfway down her back. It’s full of curves and waves, meaning that if it were ever straightened it would reach down past her butt. Hali is fairly tall, with tanned skin coming from her youth days spent on the beaches of Greece. Her eyes are a green-ish blue color, leaning more towards blue with a few faint green shades hidden in them. She has a round, almost heart shaped face, with faint acne scars on her chin and around her hair line. Hali looks very open and trusting, a person that one could talk to without worrying about them spilling her secrets. She’s a curvy woman, not fat but not stick thin either - she’s a healthy looking woman.

Due to living in a warm place until very recently and thus not being used to the cold, Halimeda wears warm clothing at all times in London, even during the summer months. She loves light colored clothing, often layering things so she can still wear the colors that she’s fond of without freezing her butt off. She’s fond of wearing turtlenecks, as they are the warmest piece of clothing that she knows of. She absolutely loves skirts, especially long ones that trail on the floor. To get around the fact that wearing them leaves her legs exposed to the cold air, she wear the thickest stockings she can find and knee high boots to cover most of her legs.

Personality:
A confident young woman, Halimeda goes after what she wants with a zealous. Nothing, not a single set back, can stop her for long. She’s a vibrant person, bright and cheery with a near constant smile on her face. She rarely fights with people (having a quick temper when she does) but she’s been know to hold grudges for long periods of times - as evident by the way that she still calls her cousin names for putting gum in her hair when they were ten. The name calling speaks another part of her; her pettiness. If she feels at all slighted or insulted in any way she will pout until she gets an apology, though she’s terrible at explaining why she’s pouting in the first place.

Hali has an incredible amount of pride in everything that she does - if she’s going to do something she wants it to be absolutely perfect. This means, sadly, that if she messes something up, she won’t feel comfortable with it until it’s redone properly (thus the blanket she’s been working on for the past three years, as it gets unraveled every time she makes the smallest mistake).

She is not a violent person in anyway. She hates being put in situations where she would need to hurt someone, for any reason. However, if she believes that the reason is good enough, she will hit someone - only once, and she will apologize profusely for it afterwards. She’s not very fond of being on the receiving end of pain either, though she knows better than to whine about it and complain. Whining and complaining never gets anything done.

Likes:
X Talking with people; Hali feels brighter and happier when she's talking with people.
X Getting into arguments; it might be weird, but it's an interaction with someone else which is why she likes it so much.
X Different Cultures; she enjoys exploring and learning new things, though her resources are often limited.
X Swimming; she loves being in the water, and she enjoys the way swimming feels.
X Horses; she absolutely loves riding them. She finds them to be the most amazing creatures in the world.

Dislikes:
X Cats; she’s seen far too many of them, and she’s just gotten tired of being surrounded by cats.
X The color black; she’s not entirely sure why, but the color bugs her.
X Rules; she has no true respect for them and only goes along with them to keep from getting in trouble.
X Birds; she thinks they're cute, but being close to them freaks her out.
X Sex; she wants to try it, wants to see what it's like, but she’s scared of the pain she knows accompanies it.

Any other information:
X Due to spending two semesters of college in Turkey and another one in Italy, she has a small understand of each language. She’s fluent in Greek and English.
X She absolutely adores dogs, finding them to be wonderful.

History:
Halimeda was born March 6, 1982, to very excited first time parents. And that excitement expressed itself through the spoiling of Hali, lasting until she was five with the birth of her younger sister Cassandra. At that point, her parents realized that spoiling their children was probably a bad idea, as Hali’s first reaction to the new baby was a question of ‘is she my new toy’ and then a tantrum when Halimeda realized that she would have to share everything with her little sister from that point on, including her parents.

Latching on to her father in hopes of keeping him all to herself - as she could tell that her sister had already gotten their mother wrapped around her tiny little finger - Halimeda quickly became a Daddy’s Little Girl (capital letters and all) and wound up following him every where he went. She started to slowly come out of her pampered shell, seeing the people her father - a small town doctor - worked with every day and realizing that she had it better than most people did.

At ten, not only did she gain another new sister - named Melody - but she also discovered an interest in the arts. Specifically, in the literary arts. She began devouring everything she could get her hands on, reading even the dusty old non-fiction books to see how those were written. By the time she reached her secondary school graduation, she had read the entire contents of the library in her town and half of the one in the town over.

Quickly moving on to the next level of her education, she spent her first two years searching for something to get her degree in, and she truly tried everything - history, math, science, English, even gymnastics and music. But eventually, she came across a creative writing class and settled in quickly with everyone else. She failed the class, as Halimeda - despite her love of all thing literature - was never one to be a writer. However, she found joy in critiquing other people’s work, and so decided that being a writing professional was in the cards for her.

Taking three semesters off (sort of) to quench her thirst for adventure, Halimeda returned to Greece newly tanned and pursued her degree with a vengeance. She eventually passed with high honors at the age of 26 and realized that finding a job in an economy like Greece’s was never going to happen, so she decided to move somewhere highly recommended, even though leaving her parents and siblings behind was difficult to her.

Halimeda settled into life in London like a duck to ice water - knowing vaguely what she needed to do, but too shocked by the new surroundings and weather to actually carry through with them at the current moment. As such, she got a job as a waitress at a small family restaurant and got an apartment, where she’s been for the past three years. Hali also got all of the requirements for teaching that she needed to be a teacher in London during that time, figuring that being a creative writing teacher wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.

At the current moment, she’s trying to get used to the sudden powers she has, finding it a bit difficult not to float around and only just suppressing the urge to heal everyone she comes into contact with.

Details of their powers:
X Blood Healing: Simply put, her blood has healing properties. This means that, if she were to come across someone injured, she would just have to bleed on them and they would be healed. Of course, the a very severe injury would require a very large amount of blood, whereas a small injury would require very little blood. And no, she can not heal terminal illnesses or diseases like cancer or AIDS. To attempt that, she would need the blood of four Halis, and the person would only be kind of healed afterwards.

X Levitation: This one is kind of obvious - she can float. It takes a lot of energy though, and she rarely uses this power as anything higher than an inch and longer than five minutes leaves her with an almost crippling headache, and after ten minutes she's exhausted. Hali is working to overcome this though. She made sure to stock up on pain medication once she discovered how to use this power.

RP Sample: ((Totally not for this forum. Oppsie. ))
It wasn't often that Hali got time to read. Of course she had days off, but she spent the majority of those days making sure her apartment was clean and nothing was out of place. She liked it when things were organized; she was better able to control things if they were organized. Her home was her domain, her place to be queen. She liked that. But keeping the apartment so clean and tidy left her little time for any other hobbies, including reading. She had no books at her apartment - too expensive and there was no room for them really. So when she got the chance, she went to one of the many libraries sprinkled throughout the city to find something.

The libraries were all relatively large, with nonfiction and fiction books a like. Of course, no books prior to the new government were approved, so all of the books contained some message pertaining to the Elite. When she had started learning to read, she hadn't known this; Hali was positive they were all the best stories ever and that she wanted to be just like the girls in those stories. Looking back on those times was a little source of shame for her, because now she understood the pain in her father's eyes whenever she said that.

But now wasn't the time to dwell on that. Now was time to find some novels and lose herself in them, pretending that there was no underlying message, that the Elite weren't trying to brain wash her through books. And she had gotten good at it, over the years. When she became a teenager and had the extra money to buy books, she would scribble in them, pointing out everything that had something to do with the Elite. She had burned those books, pretending that she wanted to have a little get together with her neighbors when she left and didn't want to burden her family with the left over books that she would never come back for.

Sighing and shaking her head, Hali put a smile on her face and checked into the library, swiping her card after entering to let the library know that a familiar face was back. The system was odd, and she almost envied the new people who came in. Almost. After all, they would be put into the system soon enough, if they were permanent residents of the city. If not, they wouldn't be allowed to take any books out.

Waving at the librarian as she based, the Grecian bounced over to her favorite section of the library. It was not at all stereotypical that she loved romance novels, plenty of men and women loved them. In fact, there were men in that section right now. Nodding a greeting at them, Hali quickly started browsing through the books for anything she hadn't read. Shouldn't be too hard, considering how many books there were versus the small amount of time she had reserved for them.
