Please Open. [Ludwig and Kadri]

Kadri sighed as she arrived on her floor, frowning at the stairs behind her. For some reason they had felt more dangerous today, and more than once she had been forced to stop as it creaked underneath her - which made no sense, since they were made of what she assumed was concrete and concrete didn't creak, as far as she was aware. But still, Kadri hadn't felt safe on the stairs. She took them though, since the elevator was even less safe than stairs, but still.

Shaking her head, she went to the door and opened it. Or, tried to. For some reason, it wouldn't open up for her and now she was kind of wishing that she had never gotten out of bed today. Kadri groaned and tugged at the door some more, really close to tears at this point. Work had sucked and the walk home had sucked and the stairs had sucked and now this was sucking. She really couldn't deal with all of this terribleness at once.

Ludwig yawned as he entered the stairwell. Last night had been another night of very little sleep. His body was just so keyed up now, but his brain was on overload. As soon as the University Library opened he had gone and studied, but by noon some German student that had recognized him from one of the lectures found Ludwig asleep in the history section.

So now he was headed home for a nap, now that his body was going to let him. He made his way up the stairs in a half fog, rubbing his eyes. As he passed the second flight to head up to his floor, he noticed that some poor little old lady was working on one of the stair doors. He supposed the nap could wait an extra minute.

"Excuse me, madame," he paused, checking mentally to make sure that was the correct English title, "Do you need help with the door?"

Blinking as someone started talking to her, Kadri looked behind her to see a great big hulking man staring down at her. To be completely honest, she nearly pissed herself just looking at him. He was just so huge! But... he was offering to help her. And that had to mean he was a nice person, right? Unless he was like that other blond person who seemed nice but had made a big deal out of her needles.

She frowned and looked him over, letting go of the door. "... would you please? I don't want to impose on you, but I really do need to get inside." And if this didn't work she could just go downstairs to the elevator and ride it up to the second floor. That would probably get her what she wanted just as well. Except she really didn't like the elevator here, not at all.

When she turned Ludwig had to hide his shock, though it wasn't done very well. She was certainly young, much younger than he had anticipated, anyway.

"O-of course." He stepped around her and gripped the handle. He pulled back on it--and sprung back toward the door a bit. So it really was stuck. Well then, he could take care of it. He pulled at the handle a bit harder, but again it was stuck.

Well that was weird.

"Step back for a moment, please, because if it flies open I wouldn't want it to hit you." This time Ludwig exerted a lot more strength, feeling his arm bulge but there was not tiredness that resulted. He used his other arm, and muttered a German swear when it still was unmovable.

And for the fourth attempt he stuck a foot on the door for leverage, not realizing how strange--and pathetic--it might look.

Kadri nodded and moved away a little, bowing ever so slightly. "Thank you sir." Watching him, she made sure she was in a place where she wouldn't get hit with the door. Having that happen wasn't exactly something she wanted to deal with anytime soon. Rubbing her arm a little to make it stop shaking - as having put all of her effort into trying to pull the door open did that to her - she almost giggled at his failure.

Not because it was amusing - it was terrible to learn that she would have to go to someone else's floor just to get to her own - but because he looked so confused about the fact that he wasn't succeeding at his task. It was kind of cute, despite the circumstances.

Tilting her head as the man put his foot on the door, Kadri frowned. "Wouldn't it be better to put your foot on the door frame? Putting it on the door seems like it would just keep the door shut despite your best efforts." She immediately shrunk back, watching him carefully to see if she was wrong or had offended him. Neither was something she wanted to entertain.

Ludwig paused when he heard the woman's (girl's?) comment. His head turned to look at her (She had moved a lot further back than Ludwig would... it wasn't as if he was going to fall on her!) and looked back at the door. He released something that lied between a sigh and a laugh, adjusting his foot a little more to the left to make sure it was on the door frame.

This time he tugged once, twice, and then it snapped open. Due to his precarious position Ludwig stumbled back, waving his arms to eventually get back to a steady position.

"Well," he said, his voice a bit gruff to alleviate his embarrassment, "It's open. Sorry for the wait."

Kadri fidgeted when the big man looked back at her, not able to tell from his expression if he was mad at her or not. The noise he made sounded kind of like laughter, but the odds of her imagining that were rather high so... she stayed silent. He did move his foot though, which meant that she had been right. That created a nice little warmth in her belly. Shaking her head, she continued watching him and absently scratched at her face, specifically at the spot that felt incredibly warm all of a sudden. She figured it was just a pimple, since it was poking out a little, and tried not to think about the other times her body had felt warm like that.

She squeaked and jumped as the door came open and the blond man stumbled back, looking like he was about to fall over. The shock of it caused the needle in her cheek to burst out, flying a bit away to land on the man's pants. Staring, Kadri covered the small hole in her face with her hand and gave him an uneasy smile. "Th-thank you sir, you're very kind."

She tried to move around him without looking suspicious or weird. Kadri didn't think she was succeeding at that, though she did try.

The woman began to move around him, almost as if she didn't want her back to him. Regardless of the strange behavior, she thanked him, and Ludwig nodded at her in response. She was covering her face with her hand, and a bizarre expression on her face, and he worried that he had hit her. He didn't remember hitting anything, but...

"Excuse me?" She was at the door. "I didn't hit you, did I? I have an ice pad back at my apartment, if you need any bruising to go down." He stepped forward, hands up to show he wasn't trying to do anything. She was small, at least in comparison to him, so if he had injured her, it might actually be a bit serious.
