~Clementine Bonnefoy~

Monaco // Clementine Bonnefoy Application Monaco

Name: Clementine Bonnefoy
Age: 21
Birthday: January 8th
Country of Origin: France, but born in Monaco
Floor in the building: 4th
How long they've lived in the building: 2 years
Job: Is a university Psychology student but has a part-time job as a language tutor for French and English
Powers:
Claircognizance: The ability to predict another person's movements
Psychoscoping: The ability to know the past events that have happened to an object through physical contact (limited to inanimate objects )

Appearance:

Clementine is below average height for her age, very slim and is of a dancer's build and carries herself as such. Her cerulean blue eyes are often compared to those of a doe, but are kept behind a pair of gold-rimmed glasses at all times as she is short-sighted. She does have contacts but she feels the glasses make her appear older and more mature.

Clementine has a tendency to be very vain and self-conscious in matters concerning her appearance, but tries to keep from preening and re-checking her appearance in public. However, she will often subconsciously glance at herself quickly when passing reflective objects such as darkened shop windows and mirrors.

Her skin is very pale, almost as if alabaster, reflecting her days spent mostly inside. She is very proud of her unblemished skin, trying her best to take the greatest care with it and oftentimes sparing no expense in maintaining it. Unfortunately, her life as a university student is not always beneficial towards the skin and a single blemish will likely send her into a slight panic.

Possessing long blonde hair that reaches to her lower back when left loose, Clementine is always quietly proud of her locks, likening them to those of the old nobility in France. However she still finds leaving her hair loose to be quite a hassle to maintain and so ties it up for simplicity's sake. This is often fashioned into a side-plait or a ballerina's bun when dancing and a pair of bobby-pins are used to keep her bangs out of her eyes. When nervous or agitated, she will also subconsciously fiddle with her hair, re-doing her braid or continuously pushing her bangs behind

Clementine leans more towards more conservative fashions and while she is not averse to showing skin, she would rather not 'flaunt' her body shape. Therefore, she is often seen in generously draped dresses along with a matching coat and boots in Winter and thinner and lighter, though still less revealing dresses in the summer. She prefers more feminine styles of dress, wearing dresses and skirts rather than trousers or shorts and will only wear them if absolutely necessary. Also, due to the nature of her powers, she will always wear gloves when outside or in any building that is not her own.

She heavily dislikes clothes that cling to the skin and though she admires them on others, feels uncomfortable wearing them herself. A perfectionist with clothing, she is very selective of the clothes she'll wear, debating on the quality and texture of the fabric to the drape and cut of the material, she will take it all into careful consideration before purchasing clothing, limiting her impulse purchases.

Personality:
Clementine carries herself with a certain amount of pride, though she is careful not to stand out in a crowd. However, despite appearing cold and uncaring, as well as having the mannerisms of an 19th Century English lady, Clementine is actually very sociable and open once you get to know her.

Priding herself on her quick wit and intelligence, she will very openly state her opinion on topics of interest. Her formal manner of speech is not the least bit intimidating, or at least she hopes it doesn't appear to be that way and carries herself in a more cheerful, albeit formal tone.

She thrives on social interaction and feels vulnerable if she is alone for long periods of time. Though she enjoys having a large circle of friends, she is very careful in choosing them and even more so in choosing confidants. She will often appear to be distant and slightly aloof when meeting a new person and will essentially 'size them up', a habit she is trying to break out since childhood after being told that people were not supposed to be judged. However, while it is very difficult to get her to warm up to you instantly, she will not be deliberately rude to anyone, in fact, while it may take a while for her to like someone, it is also equally as difficult to have her dislike you. Even then, she will still appear to be friendly and without animosity.

She is also a constant worrier, even if it does not concern her she will worry about it. She is also very anxious of what people think about her, thus very concerned about her outward appearance and is always careful not to show excess emotion, something she was taught as a child to be 'unladylike' and a hindrance. Despite this, she is certainly not shy and not afraid to voice her opinion when needed, and has some tendency to become very enthused if topics of interest are mentioned.

She is especially vulnerable to praise and she feels insecure without it, her actions will often revolve around trying to impress another person or to prove her worth and tries her best to be seen as impressive or admirable.

Though she may appear a pessimist, Clementine is never one for negativity, believing that if you believe that the worst will happen, it will come to pass. However she is not the type for over-enthusiasm and optimism, at least, she won't show it outwardly. Instead, Clementine always maintains a quiet hope for better things. Her psychoscoping is not one of the happiest of gifts, often showing her the uglier sides of life but there are always the rare instances of events she sees in her claircognizance that always give her hope.

Likes:
-Good books: Her walls are lined with classic books in all genres, in English, French and occasionally some classics in their original language. She also frequents the library often but has taken to handling the books with gloves, regardless of age.
-Ballet and Dance: She is very fond of classical dance, Ballet in particular. It is a hobby as well as an avocation. Ballet was introduced to her at an early age and though she still practices and dances regularly (often finding herself doing piles and other stretches while alone and waiting for a train or bus) she has never viewed it as a potential career. She is also very adept in ballroom dancing, not that she has much use of the skill these days.
-Etiquette : Growing up in a well-off family, Clementine was always taught that manners were the epitome of society. Even now, though she is not as strict with herself as her governess was with her as a child, she will still cling to more formal forms of address when meeting someone for the first time. In fact, she finds it more comfortable to address others more formally and using colloquial language among others, even with friends, is often a strain.
-Social Interaction: Though she is careful with selecting her friends, Clementine treasures every one of them and will do her best to make sure each one of them is happy.
-Poker and other card games: She has always found herself to be good at these games, even before she developed her claircognizance. Due to her capability and strangely favorable odds, she is likely to bet many things, such as dates and outings on a game of poker.
-Wine: Not just any wine though, she is very particular about the type of wine she ingests. You will often find her with a glass of it during most evenings but she tries to limit her consumption. Hangovers were never good memories.
-Safety: Being raised in a rather 'upper-class' area of Paris, Clementine was also very sheltered against the outside world. She was often lectured about the dangers of the 'outside' and the riffraff that roamed the streets at night. So, Clementine has developed an innate aversion to being alone outside at night and will always try her best to be within the safety of her apartment before the sun goes down.
-Debates: Just healthy ones with no animosity, she feels it keeps her brain functioning after long hours at the university.

Dislikes:
-Tardiness: She absolutely hate being late, running late or being behind schedule. She feels like she is letting everyone down if she is late to a meeting or class and would rather be early and wait rather than make someone else wait.
-Incomplete work: Though not particularly fond of schoolwork, or any type of work for that matter, Clementine hates leaving things unfinished, again because she feels as if she were letting someone down. Also, she believes it to be rather useless to waste energy in producing a result that she does not like, simply for the sake of completing a goal.
-'Lovey-Dovey' behaviour: Or any kind of PDA for that matter, private affairs should be kept private after all. Though she is not averse to discussing them with others, she would rather not have to see it herself. flirting, however, is another matter entirely
-Heavy Alcohol: She is somewhat of a lightweight and cannot hold her liquor well at all.
-Losing: She has a certain fondness of winning and therefore cannot stand losing. She will always challenge the victor to a rematch and will spend quite some effort in preparing for it and ensuring she will not lose again.
-Nicknames: She just has this certain aversion to them and finds them too informal. Though she won't deliberately correct someone for addressing her as such, she will flinch slightly when called by a nickname.
-Being patted on the head: She only permits her older brother, Francis to do it and even then, only grudgingly. She cannot fight that silly paranoia that it is making her shorter.

Any other information:
Clementine is much like her brother in many respects, unafraid to voice her opinions and show her affection to those that she is close to. She also does not take love and affection as seriously as Francis, often finding herself to be playing around with another's feelings, believing that love itself is a misconception and has no problem making a game of it.

Also, Clementine has lost most of her French accent after countless hours studying and perfecting her English. As a result, she is now fluent in both languages and has a conversational understanding of many more. However, when under very heavy stress, she will often curse to herself in French.

History: (at least 2 paragraphs)

Born to a wealthy, higher-class French couple, Clementine's life was one of ease and privilege. Generally, if money could buy it, then she would have it.

However, growing up in such a society had its boundaries, her parents, being successful career-oriented people, rarely had time for their family. As a young child, she was mostly raised by her older brother, Francis, whom she is quite affectionate to and a governess, who taught her the skills and qualities needed to continue in this lifestyle. As a result, Clementine grew quite distant from her parents and apathetic towards others. Though she now insists that she does not care for her parents now, she still yearns for some kind of parental affection.

Growing up, she always saw herself in her older brother's shadow. It always seemed that their parents adored him more and spent more time with him and preferred him over herself. So she tried as much as she could to become impressive, to be noticed and seen, though her older brother, as much as she loved him, always seemed to be that much better at her at whatever she tried to do.

Eventually, she realised that she would never surpass him in certain skills, after all, he did have a head start in life, 6 years of it, so she concentrated her efforts in what he did not put too much attention in. She studied relentlessly at school, focusing more on her academic pursuits rather than more practical ones. Not surprisingly, she was seen as a honour student all through her compulsory schooling years, something she prides herself on being successful at.

Ballet was introduced to her at a young age, her parents wanting her to grow up into an elegant, dignified young lady. It was only meant to be at a rudimentary level and was not supposed to lead to anything but Clementine quickly found herself to be attracted to the art form and practised it almost religiously, wanting, like most young girls her age, to become a ballerina. However, her school studies soon caught up and she found herself having less and less free time in front of the bar.

She chose Psychology as a subject in University as it was a popular science at the time and she was quite interested in the inner workings of the human body. Originally debating on studying Medical biology, she quickly found out after the first semester that it was indeed not for her, the blood and smell of flesh in more than one practical study proving to be too much to handle. London seemed like an appropriate choice, it was far enough to be foreign but still close enough to avoid homesickness.

Details of their powers:
Claircognizance:
She is able, to a limited extent, 'see' the future actions of a person. However, this action of 'seeing' is more often spontaneous and comes on quite suddenly. Her claircognizance is also very limited in its scope, only being able to see the next few seconds at the most. When it first started, it tended to come and go in bouts of energy, being able to see so many future movements and plans of people that it confused and dizzied her some days and having absolutely no sign of it for weeks at a time. Nowadays, she is more able to control her 'seeing' and able to predict another's movements by will, however this action requires a large amount of concentration and will oftentimes not even work. Clementine views this 'gift' to be quite mediocre, as most of the time it is simply 'seeing' other people crossing the street or getting onto the subway, but other times holds it with quiet glee, such as during the poker and other card game matches she often participates in.

Psychoscoping:
Clementine is able to, very loosely, 'view' the history of an object by physical skin contact, these objects must be of significant emotional importance to herself or others for her to be able to view the object's history. This is also limited to inanimate objects and she is only able to 'see' the recent events that have happened to it, and is unable to relate them to any person in particular. Oftentimes though, she finds herself spending several moments being suddenly drawn into a complete history of an object from its creation to the present day. This happens by chance and only with very 'antiqued' objects that have a rather 'collected' history behind them. She regards this power as rather useless and even hassling, as she is unable to withdraw from a 'viewing' until it has been fully played out and is subsequently seen as frozen in the real world. Of course, since she is largely able to control this power at will, she is not heavily bothered by it though occasionally, much to her dismay, she is forced into a rather lengthy history of an object that do indeed take a very long time. It is for this reason that she avoids antiques stores or any other place with historical artifacts, such as museums and art galleries and has taken to wearing gloves to minimize the chances of such an event.

RP Sample:

Clementine ran her gloved fingers along the worn surface of the old guard-rail that stood by the edges of a small bridge. The sun was fast making it's trip down into the horizon; the sky already stained a light orange. Hardly anyone came here anymore, but why would they? The lake was deep and an unpleasant murky brown, no longer the romantic emerald green it had previously possessed. The carcasses of former swan boats sat by the banks, the previously pristine white paint now only present in small, flaking patches. Even the bridge itself was decayed, much like its surroundings, the wooden floorboards heaved noisily when lightly touched and were very clearly a safety hazard and the freak storm that came last week certainly did it no favours. Clementine hated the state the park was in, the smell of rotting wood and pondweed constantly hung in the air, even when the winds were strong. Taking a glove off gently, she let her hand lie atop the aged wood of the bridge, allowing herself to fall back into the memories of the bridge, the human footsteps echoing among the crevices of her mind, punctuated by the laugh of children and the occasional lash of wind and crashes of the water. Reaching the present day, she withdrew her hand and replaced the glove, locking out the horrible ache of loneliness and exhaustion the wood seemed to emanate.
"One day you'll fall through the floorboards and into the lake and no-one will ever see you again." The blonde laughed bitterly at herself. This was once a frequent destination for her family outings, when her parents took the whole family out to London for a week, however she was not the type to indulge in nostalgia, happy moments of the past were very rarely ever true happiness. Her lips tugged upwards into a slight grin "Why the cynicism?" She asked herself out loud "It's not as if you were unhappy in any way." The sky was already beginning to darken dramatically and somewhere many miles away, streetlamps were igniting themselves. Soon their artificial light would illuminate the streets of London. Her new home.

A little about yourself:
I live in New Zealand and have been Roleplaying for about 2 years. This is my second attempt at a literate roleplay so I'm still fiddling around with aspects of her personality.
Also, timezones are evil. Just saying
Anything Else?: I am more accustomed to using British English in my posts, although the spell-check seems to favour the American spellings of certain words, therefore there may be some spelling inconsistencies in my posts, but I'll try to keep them to a minimum. My favourite colour is sea blue. Oh, and sorry if there's any problems with my application. I will endeavor to fix them when if you find any.

Okay I've read it (rather fast, it's very late) and it seems... pretty excellent :3 Her power is sort of like a companion power to Sakura, who sees memories in clothes owo

I think I can happily accept you!
