A shift at the pub [OPEN] Empty
PostSubject: A shift at the pub [OPEN]   A shift at the pub [OPEN] EmptyThu Jun 07, 2012 6:29 am

Allistor walked into the pub through the back. It was his shift as bartender, actually it should've started 20 minutes ago. But he had things to do that he really didn't want to procrastinate with, his newly found powers in particular. As Scottie entered the man who was working before him noticed his arrival. "What is wrong with you?! Coming in late on your first day! This isn't going to end well!" The man furiously yelled at Scottie, and bright reds and oranges burst out of his mouth. Man Scottie was not used to that!

He nodded submissively, he hated it but he knew he need to keep the job, for a few weeks in the least. He went over behind the bar and looked around the joint. It was a typical bar. Tables all around, the counter lining the wall, nothing particularly interesting. It was empty, and it didn't look like it was going to get a crowd soon. He looked out the windows to see fog pressed up against it. Scottie sighed heavily, with a deep blue coming out, and shook his head. It followed him here. Another thing he would not get used to easily.

He leaned his elbows on the counter and waited for somebody, anybody to come in.

[[OOC: So, first post, and with a lack of inspiration... would've been longer. Heheh~! Yeah...]]

PostSubject: Re: A shift at the pub [OPEN]   A shift at the pub [OPEN] EmptySun Jun 10, 2012 11:25 am

Having a beer in the middle of the day wasn't a traditional thing for Ludwig. Generally he was sensible enough to have it at the times that every other sane person had beer: Lunch, Dinner, and Late At Night.

Yet he found himself walking through the doors of the pub at 3 o'clock, with a stack of books and a terrible temper. He had been studying some of the Parlimentarian history during Baldwin's two different occupancies of Prime Minister, but different sources were giving radically different accounts and Ludwig was unable to get a straight answer from any of it. So, of course, a drink might clear up a few thoughts and help him think of something.

Ludwig sat at a barstool, putting his books on the seat beside him. He looked over at the bartender to ask for something, and was surprised when he saw an almost electric red-head behind the counter. He certainly hadn't been here the last time Ludwig came here, and it hadn't been that long since Ludwig had been at the bar.

"A Corona, please?"

((Welcome!! A Scotland, woohoo! I don't know about Scotland much in Hetalia, but I'm excited to see one in general! Don't worry too much on length, though. Bu yeah... Welcome~))

Allistor watched as a man entered the bar through the wall of fog. He looked agitated, and by the looks of the books that were in his arms, it was for a good reason. As he sat down Scottie gave a slight smile. He turned on his heels to get the Corona that was asked for. "Please, huh?" Scottie was a little surprised at the manners this guy had. Sure, there were plently of polite people, but never had they really appeared so agitated, at best depressed or heart broken.

He turned again to face the man, and put the glass on the table with a 'clink.' Scottie watched as a whisp of bright yellow floated above the man's head and faded. After was a pause of silence. Quiet, colourless, silence. Scottie shifted back onto his elbows in discomfort from the lack of sound. "Sae, ye hud a tough day?" He asked the man, his Scottish accent filled the air with a deep blue. Though he ignored it, Scottie had already grown accustomed to the colour of his own voice. Instead he eyed the stack of books on the barstool, and they looked duller still.

[[Haha~! Thanks, if you need a drunkard you can always come to my portrayal of Scotland! Yeah, I'm used to writing alot, but I've seemed to be toning it down. XD]]

Ludwig's head almost snapped up in response. For the entirety of his stay here, a whole two weeks, he had met one bartender who actually talked, and he had just commented on the fact that Ludwig was "a good fighter." Beyond that, most of the bartenders, waiters, and every British server seemed too stiff to talk. In most places in Germany Ludwig would grudgingly agree it was the same, but in the bar you were supposed to be somewhat lively. In some special bars, the bartenders even had wise words to part with to the younger drinkers.

But this man wasn't British, nor was he German. But, considering that this seemed to be the multicultural hotspot Ludwig wasn't too terribly surprised. "Yes, but there have been tougher." Ludwig smiled a bit, flicking the cover of the top book open a bit, and letting it fall back shut. He liked the books, and their content was interesting, but they were just frustrating sometimes. Thinking about it that way made the stress start to slide a bit, except for he still hadn't figured any of it out yet.

"It's just a drink to clear my thoughts," Ludwig added, moving the mug of beer toward himself. "That usually doesn't need to happen at 3 o'clock but yet it happens now."

There was a look of surprise on the man's face, whether it was the fact Scottie spoke at all, or the Scottish accent, he couldn't tell. A solid green appeared as the man spoke. It was thick and almost had a heavy look to it. Allistor did his best to disregard it. After all, it would seem strange if he kept looking up and watching things that no one else could see.

Clearing thoughts. That seemed reasonable enough to have a beer in the middle of the day, at least for Scottie it seemed a lot better than half of his reasons. Most of the time he'd have a drink just for reason of drinking. Which, as always, ended with him drunk, riding home with a rather unfortunate cab driver, and a horrid hangover visiting the next day. After that the process begins again. His bad drinking habits was not something Scottie'd ever want his family to find out. Adult or not, the amount of scolding he would get would never end.

"Aye, Ah git it..." Scottie trailed off. There was more he was going to say, but he somehow was at a loss of words. As he looked at the man again, he got a feeling that he was familiar. Maybe he'd seen him on the streets? Scottie couldn't place it.

At first, Ludwig worried that the other was trailing off in the quiet British way, and really wasn't the talker Ludwig had thought he was, but Ludwig decided to press forward. He didn't need any extra company, but the fact that Ludwig had never been in a silent bar made him determined to keep some sort of sound continuing--the boys back home would wring his neck if they had known Ludwig was ever in a bar and wasn't friendly.

"Why, has something happened to you recently?" Ludwig almost added "sir," but he couldnt tell hold old the man was.

Allistor blinked a few times at the question. The "something…recently" was not anything he was so willing to talk about to someone he'd just met, generally because the "something" was a thunderstorm that screwed up his life. "Nah, nothin' recent, but Ah've been through plenty tae kin whit yer talkin' aboot." He paused for a minute, "Why? Anythin' interestin' happen wit ye?" He was glad there was a conversation. Most people tend to keep to themselves when out for a drink, unless of course one was like Scottie or the man he was conversing with.

"Mah name is Allistor, Whit dae ye call yersel'?" Scottie added, it would be nice to know the name of who he is talking to.

"Oh, my name is Ludwig," he replied smiling. It was nice to stick to a first name basis sometimes.

But as far as what was wrong with him? Well, a lot of things, but he wasn't sure how he could phrase it. He was obligated to say something, "The large thunderstorm last week... It took out most of my research on the computer," he finished lamely, not even being able to make eye contact with Allistor due to the terrible lie. "And a lot of the other tenants had similar things happen to them." It wasn't an entire lie, if one took the research on the computer as a metaphor for his DNA system or whatever had happened biologically. It even happened to everyone else too.

Scottie straightened his back as he heard Ludwig mention the thunderstorm. Computer crashes... Scottie would rather have something like that happen than his DNA getting all conbobulated. Seeing how Ludwig was avoiding eye-contact, there was more that wasn't being told. That much Scottie knew. Whenever he lied or held back to his nanny, she'd be able to tell that by lack of eye-contact. Of course, Allistor caught on and worked on that, but still slips up when around her. Now a days Scottie can spot the obvious actions of a liar.

He wanted to know what it was, but decided not to press. He sighed, "Ah... Same thin' happened at mah place." He fibbed, well he kind of did. He did loose some info on his computer, but that was before the storm, and because he had no idea what the hell he was doing. But it was always info he could get back, after all it was just a few little files.

Scottie started to want a cigarette to calm his nerves, from the almost touchy subject. He refrained from pulling one out and lighting it. After all he didn't know if Ludwig would mind or not, and the smoke would cling around him in an unusual manner. That was not the type of thing Allistor needed at the moment.

PostSubject: Re: A shift at the pub [OPEN]   A shift at the pub [OPEN] EmptyTue Jun 26, 2012 8:00 am

"It doesn't surprise me, the storm was particularly awful, even for British weather." At the same time, he wondered, what if there were other apartment complexes with this issue? But at the same time, he had been told that the reports and investigation of strange activity had only occurred at their building one hundred years ago. So that took away that possibility.

Ludwig looked out the front window for a moment, his thoughts running in several different directions. But something snapped him out of his awareness. Perhaps it was because of his new situation, but Ludwig was beginning to notice whenever strange happenings occurred, similar to how a new vocabulary word seems to pop up in every book, article, and magazine one reads. A small cloud of mist seemed gathered at the windows and the door of the pub. The only couple nearby on the other side of the street were barely visible through the small cloud that had gathered.

"Isn't that interesting?" Ludwig said, looking at Allistor as he pointed toward the door. "I've never seen mist at this time of day. Does that happen often around here?" And he knew it wasn't his imagination--Ludwig had barely touched his beer since he'd ordered it, and now he took a nice slug of it. He waited for Allistor to notice.

Scottie tensed up the moment Ludwig looked out the window. Then when he was asked about it... Allistor knew why there was mist at 3pm, but how would he explain it to Ludwig? He sighed and shook his head. "Nah, it isnae common, bit on days it's aroond, it seems tae follow ye aw ways." He chuckled. It did in fact follow him, but other people? Not so much.

"Sae, where aboot dae ye live? The lightning wis unusually close aroond these parts." As he was changing the subject he pushed his bright red bangs out of his eye, and looked out the window at the mist scoldingly. He let his hand drop under the counter, and began flicking it towards the mist, as if to shoo it away like a stray dog at your heels. Of course though, it wasn't a stray dog, and it didn't go away. Instead it lightened up ever so slightly. An improvement, yes, but not the best.

"Follow you?" Ludwig asked incredulously. "That's a strange way to put it. I live at the Gracefield house, and it certainly doesn't happen there." He smiled again as he took another few hits of his beer. The mist was starting to clear--it couldn't be the beer playing tricks with him--and Ludwig was again able to see the couple outside from before.

"How long have you been in the area?" Because the man talked like he had lived here for a while. Ludwig was lightly joking about the mist, since the man would probably know more about it than he would.

"Looks lik' we're neighbors then." Scottie was surprised to hear where Ludwig lived, but that would also explain a familiar feel about him. The mist seemed to have figured out Scotties intentions finally, and cleared more to see through it.

He looked back to the man across the counter when he spoke. "A've bin aroond 'ere fur aboot ten months noo." He looked back out the window, and watched as a couple walked by the pub.
