*

Appearance:

Berwald is a giant of a man, with large, firm muscles and standing at 6 feet tall. With his physique alone, he looks intimidating, but with the addition of the scowl always present on his face, he can be downright terrifying. Berwald's eyesight is terrible without his glasses and before he had them he would always need to squint to see at all, which is a habit he never dropped. On top of his head is a mop of messy white-blond hair which, no matter how often he combs it, would never lie flat. His skin, to match his hair, is very pale. His mouth is thin and pale, and his nose and cheeks go pink very quickly in temperatures of both extremes. His eyes are stunning, a piercing crystal blue. However, when turned on you in a glare, they are so (unintentionally) cold and uninviting that it sends chills down most peoples' backs.

Below his head, he has a perfectly chiselled torso, with a chest which is covered in thin, light blond hair, bunched up to form a forest of manliness. He tries very hard to keep up his good figure and hits the gym every week. His arms and legs have their own sprinkling of hair, and his hands are rough and calloused from working as a carpenter. As a result, he uses hand cream in an attempt to soften them up, though it doesn’t work too well.

Berwald generally wears a plaid, button-up shirt (the colour may vary) tucked into jeans. Usually he wears a plain black belt with them but while working, he uses a utility belt to carry around his most often used tools. His glasses have thin frames so as not to stand out so much, and he always wears a light brown coat when going out, along with dark matching shoes- leather, for health and safety reasons.

Personality:

Berwald is a naturally quiet person. He keeps his opinions, feelings and everything else he doesn't think is necessary to talk about to himself. He keeps what he does talk about serious and prefers not to have idle conversations. This is for a few reasons. First of all, whenever he talks to people, they seem to tremble and Berwald cuts the conversation. He isn't oblivious, he knows he can come off as intimidating at first, so he tries to make himself as approachable as he can, but it doesn't seem to work. The second reason is that he mumbles. He finds it impossible to speak clearly, and people can't understand him, so he doesn't see the point in trying. However, if you manage to engage him in intelligent conversation, you'll find that he can be quite eager and talkative.

Berwald is good at acting quickly in dire situations, being able to think fast and react accordingly. If the situation is not dire, however, he would stand back and take his time to think out his response. If he is upset, though, he will naturally be irrational. He is rarely aggressive at all and tends to sulk quietly instead, which is a surprisingly common occurrence, because Berwald tends to take things in the nastiest possible way and assume the worst of situations. Berwald is a kind and gentle person who hates to see people in pain, and will always help out strangers who need it.

Likes:

+ Cooking. It's a relaxing change from his daily life.

+ Singing. You'll never catch him doing it, but he loves to when he's all alone.

+ Animals. Berwald loves every animal in existence, whether it's furry, feathery, big, small or otherwise, and he is happy to feed them and give them attention if they need it.

+ Cleaning. He likes to keep places clean and tidy and can't stand a mess.

+ Nature Walks. It's relaxing.

+ Friends. It's nice to have people who don't cower from you.

+ Furniture. His job revolves around it, it’s good that he likes it.

+ Sugar. He takes four spoonfulls in his coffee.

Dislikes:

+ Untidiness. As previously stated, Berwald can't stand a mess.

+ Lies. He will tell them if it's for a good cause, but if there isn't a good reason, he hates them.

+ Seeing other people hurt. Including his enemies.

+ Cowardice. People need to be braver, and Berwald frowns at those who do not try.

+ Hot weather.

Any other information:
+ Nerves. When Berwald is nervous about something, he fiddles with whatever's closest. The hem of his sleeve, his belt and so on

+ Daydreaming. Berwald likes to think of living and working somewhere where it's warmer and friendlier.

+ Difficult to fool. You aren't about to trick him, Berwald pays attention to his surroundings and the people in them.

+ Clever. Berwald is intelligent at the most important times.

+ Multilingual. His mother always thought it important that he exercised his brain in such ways, that he was able to learn English, French and Russian.

+ Socially awkward. Self-explanatory.

History:

Berwald was born to a single mother in a cottage in Östersund, where he was raised with love and care. Without a father, Berwald had to become the man of the house quickly, learning a variety of skills men needed to look after a house. He was taught how to hunt, cook, fix broken objects, construct new objects and build small walls and fences. He used these skills to the best of his ability, looking after his mother most of the time. He was sent to school, but found that he didn't like it there as much as he did at home, and rather than do his homework, Berwald preferred spending his time in the shed, learning how to make wooden boxes and how hinges work and all sorts of things like that. He was told off for it more than once.

As he grew, he learnt that he needed to pass subjects like Maths to succeed in being a carpenter, and he spent more time on his studies, spending a whole three hours a day revising for his exams. Certainly, it wasn't in vain; Berwald passed his classes with flying colours. When he was old enough, he decided to move to London for a change of scenery. He'd heard a lot about it from his uncle, and visited once or twice, ending up falling in love with it. He bought a small workshop and found a cheap place down the road from it, in the apartment block. He chose a place at the top of the building for a couple of reasons. First, it meant that he had less neighbours to worry about, and Berwald is awkward around people. Second, it means extra exersize every day, as he takes the stairs. Last, the view of London from his window is stunning. He can just see the London Eye and other famous structures he doesn't know the name of.

More recently, a boy came to live with Berwald's sometimes-business partner Arthur Kirkland, but he was rejected for reasons Berwald didn't now. What he did know, however, was that this boy was looking for somewhere to stay, so Berwald offered to take him in. The paperwork was easy to sort, and the background check even easier, and now Berwald lives with Peter Kirkland, who he considers a sort-of son. He loves buying Peter treats to make him happy, build things for him at his workshop, and won't hesitate to punish him by giving him a spank for being naughty, though apologises afterwards with a lollipop.

Details of their powers:

Telekinesis:

Berwald cannot do much with this immediately after getting it. He can lift up small solid objects around a meter above the ground, and the heavier the object, the more difficult it becomes. Berwald becomes tired after using it too much, naturally, but he feels like he'd exersized too much the previous day and his muscles begin to ache horribly.

Plant control:

Berwald, at the height of his power, would be able to grow, control and communicate with plant life. Currently, though, he can do barely any of this. Growing plants from nothing is impossible for him, but he can get them to move around as they grow on their own. Somtimes it sounds like the trees are whispering to him, but he can't hear what they're saying. He'll press his ear to the trunk, and sometimes, he can make out a word or two, or at least, he things.

RP Sample: (From my app on another forum. The characters are similar.)

Berwald's arms were full of wood. He'd just collected a new bundle and was taking it back to his shed. The shed was his Father's, but Berwald had permission to use it, as his Father rarely went in there any more. Berwald set down the logs and divided them into separate piles for what their uses would be. Some would be put on the fire to keep the house warm, and others would be used in his current project. He was crafting a rocking chair, which he'd never done before, but was sure he could manage. He had a diagram of all the separate pieces to be made, and how they would be assembled, written clearly so that he could understand them easily in the future. Occasionally, it would cross his mind that he should build furniture and sell it to people- perhaps even start a shop! But he wouldn't make a very good salesman... So he would shake that silly idea out of his head.

Today he was making the curves at the bottom of the rocking chair. They didn't look hard, but they had to be identical and perfect for the chair not to be completely useless and lopsided. The long process began, and Berwald let himself be immersed in his work, not paying attention to the sun making its way slowly across the sky. His mother came in to give him some dinner which Berwald was thankful for; when he noticed, that was, hours after she'd given it to him. He ate it gratefully, not minding that it was cold. And then it was right back to work, and to let himself be absorbed in it.

It was after sunset by the time his father came in to break his concentration, holding a glass of warm milk. "Berwald, it's late, and you need your sleep."

"Hn." Berwald looked around and nodded, setting down his tools. He would have liked to protest, but his Father was right, and Berwald never went against his Father's word. He stretched and accepted the milk his Father offered him, and headed inside. His parents sure cared for him, Berwald was grateful for them.

...The magical faraway tree? |D

Well your personality is short, I prefer personalities to be bigger than the appearences, just saying. But overall it's good and I can hardly not accept you, since this is our forum. Okay, you're accepted ovo
